It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Yanick Jean Baptiste Louis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and steadfast servant of God, who departed this life on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the age of 65 in her home. Born on August 15, 1960, in Gonaives, Haiti, Yanick dedicated her life to her faith, her family, community, and her work.
In her early years, Yanick shared her passion for teaching as a middle school educator, a role that laid the foundation for her lifelong mission of spreading the word of God. She devoted herself to nurturing both her own family and the younger generations through Sunday school and preschool classes, embodying the values she held dear. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, as well as her family - sons, daughters and grandchildren's - were her greatest treasures. In addition to her work as a teacher, Yanick earned the respect and admiration for her dedication as a laborer at Amick Farms in Hurlock, where she approached her work with the same commitment and integrity she exemplified in all areas of her life.
Yanick's warm spirit and unwavering commitment to her loved ones will forever be cherished. She is survived by her husband, Pierre Antoine Jean Baptiste; her beloved children, Jean Baptiste Peterson, Jerry Jean Baptiste,Wilder Jean Baptiste and Dayana Jean Baptiste; granddaughters, Electra Angela Domond - Jean Baptiste and Barbara Lalane; sisters, Emmanuela Louis and Claudie Barthole; and a brother, Samuel Louis, who will carry on her legacy of love and faith.
