Wilson E. Evans, 76, of Mardela Springs, passed on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born December 28, 1935 in Mardela Springs, a son of the late W. Elderdice Evans and Mary Bull Evans. Wilson's career spanned 45 years with Campbell Soup Company, where he worked as a field representative for quality control and purchasing. He was a long time, active member of Snethen United Methodist Church in Mardela and a man of strong faith and few words. In his younger years he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and trap. He was a hard working man who loved yard work and gardening. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing old country songs. He could always be counted on to lend a hand to anyone in need. His true passion was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Doris Riggin Evans; 3 daughters, Cindy Ketterman and her husband, Jerry of Delmar, Cathy Stitcher and her husband, Tom of Salisbury and Carol Mister and her husband, Dave of Hebron; 3 grandchildren, Matthew Stitcher, Mary Caitlyn Stitcher and Addie Mister; and a sister, Ann Marie Harcum of Hebron. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Evans. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Donna Hinkle will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Mardela Memorial Cemetery.
