William P Sando Sr., 77, of Salisbury, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. He was born on June 25, 1944, the son of the late Paul Edwin and Helen (Jones) Sando. William spent his youth exploring the Chesapeake Bay with his small Chris-Craft boat. He enjoyed the serenity that boating on the water provided. He did quite a bit of fishing and crabbing alongside his adventures on the Bay. In his adult life he pursued many artistic endeavors. Bill was a skilled craftsperson in the manufacturing industry as a Tool and Die Maker. Lending his talents to Martin Marietta for a majority of his career in their Aerospace division. Bill was also a distinguished musician with a fondness for a variety of genres and musical instruments. William knew from an early age that he was adopted and he was privileged to connect with some of his birth family in his later years. He enjoyed his time getting to know his sisters, Sheila (Shaw) Ingel, Gail (Shaw) Lauer and Tina Shaw. He is survived by his son, William P Sando Jr, daughter Valerie L Southard, son-in-law Peter Southard Jr; grandchildren Jacob Sando, Emily Sando, Megan Sando, Christopher Bennett, Jonathan Southard, Justin Southard, Lillian Southard, and Elliott Southard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his birth mother Ruth Helen Shaw and his daughter Trisha Lynn Sando. In lieu of flowers we ask that you support a local musician, artist or music educator. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
