William "Bill" Henry Bateman, 59, of Delmar, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 7, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late John Henry Bateman and Ruth Estelle Bateman. Bill worked for 20 years at Allied Waste Services in Delmar. He loved fishing. He was a wonderful husband, father and brother, and the children in his family lovingly called him "Pop Pop." He is survived by his wife, Helen Bateman; three daughters, Jessy Davis, Danielle Brown (Devin) and Samantha Terry, all of Delmar; four grandchildren, Makayla Brown, D'Asia Brown, Teanna Brown, and Devin Brown, Jr.; a twin sister, Vikki Mauro of Baltimore; three brothers, Robert Bateman (Sandy) of West Virginia, George Bateman (Barbara) of Glen Burnie, and Calvin "Chris" Bateman of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Eli Denning, Abigail Davis, and Denasia Brown; and a brother, John Henry Bateman, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Melson's Cemetery in Delmar.
