Obituary

William Taylor Cook, 70, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at Salisbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 10, 1945, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, a son of the late Frank and Edna Cook. Bill was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Virginia Tech. He was a highly intelligent man, holding a doctorate degree in poultry science and spending many years working as a chicken geneticist around the world. On his days off, he loved going to church and playing golf. One of his main hobbies was collecting stamps. Bill was a very active father and loved to travel with his family. Once his children were grown, Bill followed his passion for God and the church and sold the family house and moved to Louisiana to go to seminary school. Bill and his wife spent much of their time, effort and finances to follow their hearts and God's path, spreading kindness, love and compassion to people in many areas of the world. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice L. Cook of Salisbury; a son, Kerry Dean Gray of Missouri; two daughters, Shelly Lynette Gray of Mississippi, and Melody Moore and her husband Jeff of Delmar; grandchildren, Kelsey, Noelle, Randy, Danny, T.J., Tyler, Karli, Kali, Carlos, Angela, Katelyn, Jacob, Joshua, Rebekah, and Austin; great grandchildren, Thomas, Tucker, Sophia, Chloe, Ryan, Abigail and Ayden; a brother, Charles A. Cook of South Carolina; and a sister, Nancy J. Mortali of Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. The Reverend Howard Travers will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
