Walter Benjamin "Bud" Hudson, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Gull Creek Senior Living in Berlin, where he had resided the past several weeks. Walt was born March 18, 1934, in Snow Hill, a son of the late Daniel Wallace Hudson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Tarr) Hudson. On April 5, 1953, Walter married the love of his life, H. Jane Hearthway and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Walt was strong in his faith and attended Olivet Christian Church in Snow Hill. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958, 2 years of which he and his wife were in Japan. He worked most of his adult life in the poultry industry, retiring after 21 years from Perdue Farms. Memberships include the Delmarva Poultry Industry Association, Ruritan Club of Salisbury and Rockawalkin Church in Salisbury, where he served many years on the trustees. He is survived by a son, James E. Hudson and wife, Tina of Texas; daughter, Patricia J. Soriano and husband Wayne of Ocean City; grandchildren, Thomas Hudson and wife Jess, Dylan Hudson and Christopher Soriano and wife Erin; great granddaughter, Indiana Marie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Henrietta Jane (Hearthway) Hudson, who passed in 2014; a son, Benjamin W. Hudson, who passed in 1968; and brothers, Daniel W. Hudson, Jr. and Paul F. Hudson. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Snow Hill Christian Church Cemetery in Snow Hill. The Reverend Kenneth Elligson will officiate.
