Salisbury-Walter "Walt" H. Barlowe of Salisbury went peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center after a long illness. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to many. Walt was born February 23, 1921, in Akron, Ohio, to Walter Herbert Barlowe and Della Mae Lewis. He graduated from Marion High School in 1936. He retired from Moores Building Supply in 1986 after many years of service. He attended the First Baptist Church in Delmar until he became disabled. Walt was a member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Catherine Wilson Barlow; three daughters, Darlene Cole Culver and husband Bill, Rhonda Elswick and husband Bob, and Terri Ellen Tindall and husband Eddie; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Foskey Barlowe; sisters Norma Adams and Virginia Coleman; and a brother, Malcolm Barlowe. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. The Reverend Barry Devine will officiate. Interment will follow at Parson's Cemetery in Salisbury. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church of Delmar, P.O.
