Virginia E. Segars, 83, of Mardela Springs, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was born December 22, 1927 in Delmar, a daughter of the late Ernest and Katie H. (Baker) Sullivan. Virginia worked for many years as a cashier at many local Acme Stores and the IGA in Hebron. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mardela Springs. She is survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Florida Sullivan, Jane Sullivan and Helen Sullivan, all of Delmar; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Anita and Bill Richardson of Federalsburg; a special god-daughter, Rachael Erin Springer; and many nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Segars; five brothers, Edward Sullivan, Clifton Sullivan, Orville Sullivan, Norman Sullivan and David Sullivan; two sisters, Margaret K. Carmean and Irene A. O'Neal; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Donovan. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Mt.
