Georgetown - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Lorraine Hynson, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Jesse and Charlotte (Insley) Willey. Violet graduated from Mardela Springs Middle High School with the class of 1961. She began a remarkable career that started with her dedicating over 25 years of service to Prudential Insurance. After moving to Delaware in 1988, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for Dr. Wagner in Milton,DE. Ending her career at PRMC, working in their outlying offices training new hires. Her contributions were invaluable and left a lasting impact. Following her retirement, Violet transitioned into being a Grandmother and enjoyed quilting and knitting. She was a member of the Delmarvalous Quilt Guild, the Seaside Applique Guild, and enjoyed spending time Wednesday and Friday mornings at Panera in Rehoboth, knitting with a group of wonderful ladies. Violet will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her unwavering love and devotion as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Deanna Taylor and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Ashley Ward and husband, Tom and Jack Wise and wife, Brooke; great grandchildren, Sophia, Jessie and Oaklynn; and a sister, Yvonne "Pooch" Green, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Hynson, who passed in 2017. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Short Funeral Home in Delmar on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service which begins at 6:00 p.m.. Interment will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mardela Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Violet to Bayview Baptist Church, 534 E 4th Street, Laurel, DE 19956 or to the Delmarvalous Quilt Guild, P.O. Box 66, Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
