Vincent H. Tubbs, 75, of Delmar, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his home in Delmar. He was born in Easton, a son of the late Ollie Calvin and Mildred Evelyn (Morris) Tubbs. Vincent proudly served his country in the US Navy. After his service in the Navy he went to work as a mechanic for Green Giant in Salisbury, a job he truly loved for 45 years. In addition to Green Giant he also worked many years as a mechanic at Simpson's Exxon in Salisbury, before choosing to open his own business, Tubbs Auto Repair, which he operated for 20 years. He was a long time member of St. George's United Methodist Church in Delmar. He enjoyed working in his garden and sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae (Hudson) Tubbs; 4 children, Vincent Harris Tubbs, Jr. Margaret Ellen Tubbs Bell, Howard William Jarrett, and Marybeth Disharoon Shockley; a step-son, Jack Bailey; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and other step children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Harry Calvin Tubbs and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverend Sam McWilliams will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
