Victor W. Bean, Jr., 77, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 5, 1933, the son of the late Victor and Christaiana Bean. Mr. Bean proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Mack Truck in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Salisbury, Maryland, for over 43 years. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury and was a lifetime member of the Salisbury Elks, American Legion, and the NRA. Mr. Bean was very much an outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening and swimming. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rosa Bean; a son, Jeffrey Bean of North Beach, MD, and his children, Austin and Aiden Bean; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dana Illian of Salisbury and their children, Morgan, Myles, Seth, Tyler and Chase Illian; three stepsons, Clay Hall and his wife Jane of Salisbury and their children, Justin, Matthew, and Leah Hall, and extended family; Stephen Hall and his wife Vicki of Salisbury; and David Hall of Salisbury and his children, Ashley, Kyla, Kianna and Josh Hall; a sister, Carol Imhoff and her husband Louie of Greenwich, New York; a nephew, John Imhoff; two nieces, Susan Greene and Nancy Schneider; and several cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Immanuel Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 1514 Old Ocean City Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
