Vernon Franklin Wagner, 74, of Salisbury, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born May 13, 1935 on Miles Farm in Somerset County, a son of the late Albert Rollins Wagner and Nellie Denston Wagner. Vernon served his country in the US Army in the late 1950's. After the service, he became a plumber. He worked for M.L. Hastings in Delmar, and then worked for over 20 years for T.E. Smith before working for himself a number of years before retirement. He was a jack-of-all-trades who could do almost anything with his hands. He enjoyed family camp-outs and loved fishing and working in his vegetable garden. He is survived by six children, Vernon Jay Wagner and his companion, Mary Jones of Salisbury, Barry Franklin Wagner of Salisbury, Marian Ann Kelley and her husband, Rusty of Princess Anne, Kevin Wayne Wagner of Salisbury, Brian Dale Wagner of Salisbury and Deana Gay Williams and her husband, Darin of Fruitland; eight grandchildren, Richard Davey, Kayla Parsons, Christine Wagner, Cory Wagner, Brandy Jones, Mandy Jones, Brett Williams and Madison Williams; a great grandson, Wyatt Davey; and brothers and sisters, Robert Wagner, Dorothy Tarr, LeRoy Wagner, Clara Lebresco, Anne LaBounty, Norman Leslie Wagner and Gary Wagner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Frances (Hales) Wagner, who passed in 1994; and brothers and sisters, Lena Miller, Albert Rollins Wagner and Mary Wagner, who passed as a child. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00.
