Vernon E. Lanham, 80, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Laurel Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Maryland. He was born on June 24, 1941, in Gambrills, Maryland, a son of the late Clifton Franklin Lanham and Mary Evelyn King Lanham. He was raised on his family's tobacco farm in Gambrills, Maryland and was the youngest of his eight siblings. Growing up he loved to play baseball and was a catcher. He also coached youth baseball for many years and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles. He worked as a manager at the Safeway in Annapolis, and locally he worked for many years as a home builder. Most importantly, he was a longtime faithful member of the Delmarva Evangelistic Church in Salisbury, where he served as a lay minister and prayer warrior. He was very devoted to his church family, had a love for the Lord, and wanted to make sure everyone was saved. Vernon was a wonderful, devoted husband, and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna M. Lanham; children, Scott Lanham, Robin Gilbert, Terrie Meade, Larry Lanham, and Tina Robinson; stepchildren, Joshua Wentzel, Christy Miller, and Aimee Johnson; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson; and his siblings, Cleveland Eugene Lanham, Elgie Dodd Lanham, William Clifton Lanham, Sr., Clement Lee Lanham, Shirley Walker Lanham, Rachel Lanham, and Carolyn Evelyn Boone. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Delmarva Evangelistic Church, 407 Gordy Road, Salisbury. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Robert "Buzz" Gregory will officiate. The interment will be private. Following the service, friends and family are welcome to gather at the church for a time of food and fellowship. The church will livestream the service through their Facebook page, for those unable to attend the service in person.
