Veda Ann Boyer, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend to all, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday December 19, 2024. Veda was the daughter of the late Thelma Margurite Andrews and Alfred Edward Andrews. At the age of eight years her father passed away and a few years later her mother married Franklin W. Morris, who quickly became, and remained her Dad. Granny, as she was called by most everyone that knew her, was born on July 6, 1937, in Colonial Heights, Delaware. She grew up in New Castle County and attended Conrad High School before marrying Charles Boyer on February 27, 1954. They raised seven children, all of whom she is survived by; Shirley Ann Reynolds (Willard), Patricia Elizabeth Twardus, Charles Richard Boyer, John Thomas Boyer (Beth), Franklin Joseph Boyer), Norman Henry Boyer (Dana), and Sharon Mary Walter (James). Also surviving are brothers Alfred W. Andrews, and Franklin W. Morris Jr. (Martha) and a sister Sharon Lee Clark (David). Along with 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. She was a hard-working woman and held many fulfilling jobs to help raise and support her family. She loved having family around her and would cook many large meals when family gathered. Her specialty potato salad was a renowned favorite at all family functions, and as soon as the first snow came you could count on her famous cinnamon rolls. Granny was a passionate sports enthusiast, from her Dallas Cowboys to NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt Sr. She watched tennis in the winter baseball in the summer NASCAR most of the year and football in the fall. Until her health started failing, she was an avid bowler and could still play baseball at many family get togethers. She had a love for playing cards, especially pinochle with family and friends. Moving to Mardela Springs several years ago, she attended Athol Baptist Church occasionally with her family, where once again her love of people and cooking quickly gained her many friends as she volunteered her services for church and community events. Granny embraced family traditions, particularly during Christmas, her favorite time of year, when she created magical memories that her family will hold dear forever. It is fitting she departed during this season of love, leaving behind a legacy of cherished Christmas moments woven into her family's hearts. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Charles Boyer, her sister Thelma Clemintine Eastburn and her husband Donald Eastburn, her son-in law Daniel Twardus, Daughter-in-law Lucinda Boyer and a grandson and great granddaughter. A celebration of her life through funeral services that will take place on Friday January 3, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, Delaware, where a visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00. Her son-in-law, Pastor Willard Reynolds and her brother Franklin Morris, will officiate Following the services she will be laid to rest at Athol Baptist Church Cemetery in Mardela Springs, Maryland.
