Obituary

Thomas "Tom" H. Craige, III, 81, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at PRMC in Salisbury, with his family by his side. He is a son of the late Thomas H. Craige, II and Ruth I Craige of Meshoppen, PA. Tom is survived by his wife Shirley of 42 ½ years; five daughters, Debbie Carman (Ronnie), Susan Ailstock (Rob), Kelley Cylc (Scott), Kerri Daye (Brian), and Kathy Craige; a son, Thomas H. Craige, IV; and a brother, Harold Craige (Gloria). He was the proud grandfather of Marisa and Kyle Ailstock, Kendyl and Karsyn Cylc, Brylee and Brogan Daye, Thomas H. Craige, V, and Brittany Craige. He is further survived by one great grandson, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He graduated from East Stroudsburg University and proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. Tom worked over 30 years for the Wicomico County Board of Education in elementary education as a PE teacher at Pemberton Elementary. He was also a Driver's Ed teacher for ten years and coached wrestling at Wi-Hi. Tom retired in June 1992. Tom will fondly be remembered by family and friends as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He regularly attended Spence Baptist Church and was involved in the community with the Santa House and After Prom. He was an avid softball player, entertainer, and much more. He will also be remembered as Grandpop/Pe-Pop, and for his commitment and enjoyment in attending as many functions that he could for his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Spence Baptist Church, 7603 Spence Church Road, Snow Hill, Maryland. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ken Elligson will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Spence Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spence Baptist Church, 7603 Spence Church Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
