Thomas F. Couzens, Jr., 78, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. He was born in Baltimore, a son of the late Thomas F. Couzens, Sr. and Gertrude Baker Couzens. "Couz", as he was fondly known to family and friends, proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He earned his degree in architecture while attending Virginia Tech. As a self-employed architect, he designed many local buildings across Delmarva, in Ocean City and in Baltimore. He was a huge fan of Johnny Unitas and Frank Sinatra and loved learning details about their lives. He is survived by daughters, Anne Marie Chandler and her husband Eddie of Berlin, Susan E. Rivers and her husband Bob of Millersville, Maryland and Colleen P. Ellis and her husband Jeff of Salisbury; sons, Thomas F. Couzens, III and his wife Betsy of Sacramento, California and Stephen M. Couzens and his wife Kathleen of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Graham Couzens, Tim Couzens, Brad Young, Joe DeSantis, Sonya DeSantis, Bruce Jenkins, Justin Young, Sarah Jenkins, Jordan Couzens, Jared Couzens, Abigail Couzens and Natalie Couzens; three great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Sauer and her husband John; his former wife, Agnes Gollery of Allen, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, Ginger and Chris, Michael and Richard. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. The Reverend Barry Devine will officiate. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
