Thelma L. Timmons, 90, of Parsonsburg died Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Salisbury Rehab and Nursing Center. Born January 1, 1921 in Willards, she was the daughter of the late Corbett and Ada Tyre Lewis. She was a longtime employee of the Gant Shirt Factory before becoming a full time poultry producer on the family farm in Parsonsburg. Thelma enjoyed family gatherings, teaching her granddaughters to sew and cook, and was an avid vegetable gardener. She was a member of Melson United Methodist Church in Delmar. She is survived by five sons and daughter-in-laws, C. Frank and Dolly Timmons, Ralph and Patricia Timmons, all of Delmar; Gary and Freda Timmons, of Dunedin, FL; Barry and Debbie Timmons, and Brent and Debbie Timmons, all of Parsonsburg; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Louise Phillips and Irene Shockley; two brothers, Milton and Ronald Lewis. She was preceded in death by brothers Roland, Harris, and Norman Lewis; and her husband of 60 years, Calvin Horace Timmons. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1pm at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Internment will be held in Pittsville Cemetery. The Reverend Douglas Griffith will officiate. Following the service, all are invited to join the family at Melson Church Hall for a time of food and fellowship.
