Thelma M. Shockley, 87, of Delmar, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born on May 21, 1926 in Dover, Delaware, a daughter of the late James and Blanche Darby. Thelma was a loving wife and homemaker for 60 years. She worked as a seamstress at Jacobson's Shirt Factory in Powellville and as a cook for Sam's Club in Salisbury. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Whitelock of Delmar; seven grandchildren, Roger Whitelock of Delmar, Lori Cook of Delmar, Mark Whitelock of Pittsville, Billy Cody of Delmar, Raymond Parsons of Delmar, Traci Wagner of Seaford, and Angie Farnum of Cheyenne, Wyoming; eighteen grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie Conoway of Parsonsburg and Megan Harrison of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger J. Shockley; a daughter, Shirley Whitelock; a sister, Anna Doughty; and two brothers, Jack and James Darby. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2013 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. The interment will be private.
