Ted Alan Powell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 19, 1954, in Salisbury, MD, Ted dedicated his life to hard work and family, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a son of the late Elton Alfred Powell and Mary Nancy (Leonard) Powell. A proud graduate of Wicomico Senior High School with the Class of '73, Ted began his career at Perdue Farms, and DuPont. He later found his calling with Batesville Casket Co. as a delivery driver, a role that showcased his unmatched work ethic and commitment to service. His colleagues and customers alike appreciated his dedication and the care he took in every aspect of his work. He was also a very dedicated, long-time member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where he served wherever he was needed. Ted's greatest passion, however, was his family. He adored his wife of almost 44 years, Lynne Powell. He is also survived by his beloved daughters, Suzanne Devito and husband, Nino and Jessica Hanyok and husband, Chris; his precious grandchildren, Tyler and Carley Devito and Logan and Taylor Hanyok; a sister, Bonnie Carol Seaton and husband, Ralph; a brother, Joe Ryder Powell; a sister-in-law, Debbie Powell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He cherished the moments spent supporting his daughters and grandchildren. You could often find him in the bleachers, cheering them on and celebrating their achievements with pride. His spirit of encouragement and unwavering love resonated deeply with his family, leaving a legacy of support and warmth. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by a brother, Elton Alfred Powell, Jr. A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church in Delmar, where friends and family will gather for a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00. The Inurnment at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar will take place after Mass, followed by a Celebration of Life fellowship at Holy Redeemer Church Hall.
