Obituary

DELMAR- Ted M. Fletcher, 83, of Delmar, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was born February 1, 1933 in Sharptown, a son of the late Harry G. Fletcher and Lottie Mitchell Walker Fletcher. Ted worked many years managing the warehouse at Cope's Candy Co. before retiring from Maryland Plastics where he was the head of the maintenance department. He was a dedicated, 60 year member of the Sharptown Fire Department and proudly ran the merry-go-round at the Sharptown Carnival for the past 36 years. Ted also served as past-president of the Delmarva Firemen's Association. He enjoyed serving his community and was always there to lend a hand to those in need. He is survived by sons, Kenneth Fletcher and wife, Shelley of Salisbury, Jerry Fletcher of Delmar, and Terry Fletcher and wife, Terri of Delmar; grandchildren, James Fletcher, Caroline Fletcher, Coltman Fletcher, Gunner Fletcher, Tyler Spiker, Brandon Fletcher, Gavin Fletcher, Dillon Fletcher, Morgan Fletcher, and Amber Fletcher Holston; great grandchildren, Danny, Olivia, Noah, Blake, Colson and Gabriel; a very special companion, Margaret Padgette of Salisbury; a brother, Herman Fletcher of Sharptown; and sisters, Edna Sylvia of Sharptown and Una Bradd of Tampa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Toadvine Fletcher, who passed in 2008; a son, Ted Fletcher, Jr.; and brothers, Thomas Fletcher and Ned Fletcher, Ted's twin brother. A fireman's funeral will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 12:00. Pastor Bob Hudson, Sr. Chaplain of the Delmarva Firemen's Association, will officiate. Interment will be held at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Sharptown Fire Department, P.O. Box 307, Sharptown, MD 21861. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
