Obituary

Snow Hill – Sylvia Mae Hostetler, 85, went home to be with her beloved Saviour on May 28, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, after a brief illness. She was born on June 26, 1924, in Westover, Maryland, the daughter of the late Lester and Claire Miller. On August 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harold Hostetler of Westover. She was a faithful member of the Snow Hill Mennonite Church and was active in the ladies quiltings at the church. Mrs. Hostetler was also a foster mother and a friend to many. Sylvia is survived by her husband Harold of Snow Hill; four sons, Paul Hostetler and wife Anna of Dalton, OH; Maynard Hostetler and wife Mary of Snow Hill; Bennie Hostetler and wife Miriam of Fredericktown, OH; and Nathan Hostetler of Snow Hill; three daughters, Ida Mae Overholt and husband Leon of Taylorsville, NC; Lois Ropp and husband Lamar of Kalona, IA; and Christina Kurtz and husband James of Snow Hill; 32 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; six brothers and four sisters, Leonard Miller of Westover; Floyd Miller of Spring City, PA; Daniel Miller of Ellicott City; Omar Miller of Harleysville, PA; Albert Miller of Princess Anne; Richard Miller of Westover; and Marian Miller, Lois Christman, Joyce Thieszen and Alice Bontrager, all of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hostetler was preceded in death by a daughter, Nadine, and a brother, Clifford. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at Snow Hill Mennonite Church in Snow Hill, with Pastor James Kurtz officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday night at the church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00. Interment will follow the funeral service on Tuesday in the Snow Hill Mennonite Church Cemetery.
