Obituary

Susan Irene Scott Hearn, beloved mother and grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on November 14, 2023, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, at the age of 76. Susan was born on February 24, 1947, in Ringtown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Ethel Scott and her step-father who raised her, Wallace Scott. Susan graduated from Wi-Hi with the class of '65. She worked several jobs throughout her lifetime, but none as important as that of a homemaker. As a devoted mother, Susan poured her heart into raising her sons. Her love and guidance were the compass that guided them through life's challenges. She instilled in them the values of honesty, empathy, and perseverance, ensuring they would walk forward with confidence long after she was gone. She attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Spending time with her sons and grandchildren was important to Susan. She also loved trips to visit family in Pennsylvania and especially liked spending time in Ringtown with her Aunt Helen and Uncle Russell Huss. Her family will always remember her love for Christmas and how special she made the holidays for her family each year. She had a huge place in her heart for her animals, especially her dog "Mitsy" and cat "Faith." She is survived by sons, James Edward Palmer, Jr., Harold Milton Palmer and Russell Andrew "Andy" Palmer and wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Justin Harold Palmer and Brittany Marie Palmer; great grandchildren, Meara Lynn Palmer and Zaiden Alexander Palmer; a brother, Russell Scott; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Parker Hearn; a brother, Joseph Marie; and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Lynn Palmer. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Pastor Joel Beiler will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to gift Susan I.
