Obituary

Susan B. Emmens, 95, of Delmar, formerly of Daytona Beach, Florida, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at her granddaughter's home in Delmar. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 14, 1914, a daughter of the late Clarence and Josephine Gantt. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Delmar. Flowers and gardening were her passions, as well as sewing and quilting. She knitted hats all year long for the needy to donate through her church. First Baptist Church in Delmar and her church family and Sunday School Class were of the greatest importance in her life. Adventurous of spirit, she went sledding and snowmobiling at age 84, and was always up for the next place to see, the next new thing to learn or do. She was teaching us to be generous of heart up until our last day with her. She will be as greatly missed as she was enormously loved She is survived by a daughter, Mary Mazzullo of Salisbury and her husband Roger; a son, Richard Emmens and his wife Joyce of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren– Heather Parsons and her husband Billy and their children Barry and Nash Parsons, with whom she has lived happily for 12 years, Yancey Carapico and his daughter Harmony Cecil, USAF TSGT Shane Emmens and his wife Kelly and their children Kyle Ficenec, Bailey, Christian and Riley Emmens, USAF TSGT Lance Emmens and his children Cade and Gabrielle Emmens, and Jennifer Rohwer and her husband Kyle and their son Allen Rohwer. She loved all of her children and grandchildren so very much. She would light up when they were with her. Two beloved Nieces Betsy Carper and her husband Neal, and Barbie Gantt have also been like daughters to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Emmens; a Son, Thomas Emmens, a brother, Charles Gantt and a sister, Jane Glover. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Delmar.
