DELMAR- Steven H. Twilley, Sr., 58, of Delmar, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 23, 1960 in Salisbury, Maryland, a son of the late Harold S. Twilley and Jean Doris (Propper) Twilley. Steve graduated from Delmar High School with the class 1980. On February 14, 1981 he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl, and together they raised their family. Throughout the past 37 years they were inseparable and supported each other each step of the way. As a teenager he went to work at the Big Star Grocery Store in Salisbury, where he quickly worked his way up to become a manager. Then after working a few years with Pepsi and VPI, he went to work at United Propane, which later changed to Suburban Propane, where he also worked his way up to manager and spent the last 17 years. He was a proud member of the Delmar Fire Department where held many positions such as engineer, driver and vice-president and served on various committees. Family was cherished by Steve and he hardly missed a game when his kids were playing from T-ball all the way up to the college football and field hockey games. His love for the community and sports led him to a long history of umpiring little league and high school baseball games and he was a member of the Delaware Umpiring Association, the Atlantic Coast Umpires Association and was involved with Delmar Little League for over 30 years. If you know Steve, you know that he is a diehard and faithful Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Orioles fan. As a Civil War history buff, he enjoyed attending and sometimes participating in Civil War re-enactments sharing those moments with his family. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his contagious smile and as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Cheryl Lynn Twilley; a son, Steven H. Twilley, Jr. (Shannon); a daughter, Danielle Twilley Sweitzer (Colin); grandchildren, Rylynn, Irelynn, Everlynn, Marley, and Piper; brothers, David Twilley (Judy) of Parsonsburg, Robert Twilley of Delmar, Randy Twilley (Barbara) of Laurel; mother-in-law, Carol Nesbitt (Wayne) of Salisbury; sister-in-law, Teena Lanham (Scott) of Bishopville; brothers-in-law, Robert Coffin (Delena) of Delmar and Woody Payne (Heidi) of Delmar; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Monty Twilley. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar, and also on Saturday at the Delmar Fire Department from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A fireman's funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Delmar Fire Department. The Reverend John Oltman will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery in Delmar. In memory of Steve, contributions may be sent to the Delmar Fire Department, P.O.
