Steve Jeffery Outten, 85, of Delmar, MD died peacefully at his home on May 9, 2026. Born November 7, 1940, he grew up in Pocomoke, MD and was the son of the late Harry Lee and Laura Wessells Outten. He was predeceased by a brother, Howard Outten and sister, Virginia Fisher.

Steve is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Ellen Jean Outten, his son Michael Outten (Sheila), grandson Jordan Outten, granddaughter Madison Outten, 2 nephews Gerald Outten (Delores) and J. Steve Leffew (Diane), and several grand nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In his younger years, Steve worked on a cow farm and built bicycles during the holiday season. He graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1958 where he played as a solo trumpet player in the school band. He married Ellen in November 1960, and they eventually made a home in Delmar, MD after he was drafted into the Army in 1966. He served with the 519th Transportation Unit in Heidelberg, Germany until 1968. Steve worked for DP&L and retired after 30+ years.

Steve enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, and caring for his son and grandchildren, whom he adored. For many years, Steve spent countless volunteer hours serving as coach, president, and umpiring chief for Delmar Little League, the Local Little League District, and Parks & Recreation.

The family would like to thank Christina, Amy, Marlenn, and Nikki for their wonderful loving care given during his illness, as well as many thanks to the Coastal Hospice staff.
