Stephen G. Gross, 69, of Berlin passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his home in Ocean Pines. He was born September 11, 1941, in Rogers, Oklahoma, a son of the late Milton and Juliet Gross. Mr. Gross graduated from the University of Missouri and became a Naval Aviator flying S-2s off various aircraft carriers. Leaving the Navy he received a Masters in Journalism from the University of Missouri and joined The DuPont Company in Wilmington in the advertising department. An active member of Grace Episcopal Church he also acted and directed many community theater shows in Wilmington DE. Mr. Gross retired to Ocean Pines where he focused on various writing and advertising activities. He enjoyed golf, reading and working with computers. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Gross of Berlin; his children, Bill Gross of Easton, MD, Julie Plocharczyk of Naples, FL, Robert Gross of Ormond Beach, FL, Kari Yocum of Mt. Pleasant, SC and John Gross of Berlin, MD; seven grandchildren, John, Sarah, Tom, Claire, Hunter, Gunnar and Brock; and two brothers, Philip Gross of Independence, MO and Kendal Gross of Hallsville, MO. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar.
