Obituary

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES DUE TO IMPENDING WEATHER EVENT Shirley E. Pavone, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 23, 1943, in Salisbury, MD, Shirley made her home in Laurel, where she filled her life and the lives of those around her with love and warmth. Everyone who knew Shirley will fondly remember her as a loving mom; she had an incredible ability to make anyone feel like part of the family. Her home was always open, with a revolving door that welcomed everyone, making each visit a cherished occasion. Whether it was her beautiful handwriting gracing holiday cards or her enthusiasm for Sudoku puzzles, she brought joy to even the smallest details of life. An avid reader, Shirley spent many quiet moments lost in the pages of her favorite books. And let's not forget her love for Elvis — his music always brought a smile to her face! For over two decades, Shirley worked as a cashier at Super Fresh in Salisbury, where she connected with her customers and treated them like family. After 22 years of dedicated service, she retired in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and commitment. Shirley was a longtime member of Union United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where she nurtured her faith and connected with her community. She is survived by her loving children, Wayne Glasgow, Jr. (Vivian), Eve Conner (Mark Fadely), John Glasgow, Sr. (Dollie), and Lew Cunningham, Jr (Trish). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Wayne, Adam, Katie, Susie, EJ, Heather, Abby, Kayla, and Dakota; great-grandchildren, Seth, Sammy, Grace, and Alice. She is also survived by her former husband, Lewis Wayne Cunningham, Sr.; stepson, Tony Pavone (Shelly); stepdaughter, Rae Ann Preston; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a wide circle of friends who felt her warmth and generosity. She was predeceased by her former husbands, Frederick Wayne Glasgow, Sr. and Raymond Pavone; grandson, Joey; great-grandchildren, Hope and Nathan; brother, Edward James Wainwright, Jr.; and sister, Gladys Jean Taylor. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. We invite all who knew and loved her to join in remembering the joy she brought into our lives, sharing stories, laughter, and tears as we say our farewells.
