Obituary

Shirley Allena Moseley, born on March 13, 1935, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2024, at Genesis Healthcare- Lofland Park Center, where she had resided for the past year. She was 88 years old. Shirley was born in Athol, MD, and was the beloved daughter of the late Victor McKinley Robinson and Eugie May (Bailey) Robinson. Raised in Athol, she attended Mardela High School. In her younger days she worked as a waitress at the snack bar at Central Drug Store. She worked many years until retirement as a machine operator for Shore Paper Box Co. in Mardela Springs. After retirement she continued working in food service at several local establishments. Shirley was a prayer warrior who prayed daily for so many and a member of Athol Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Later in life she attended Calvary Baptist Church. Food was always the center of family gatherings and everyone referred to her as Mom Mom Moseley or Aunt Shirley. She was a wonderful cook who loved to feed family and friends. She was well known for her soup, peas and dumplings and her cornbread, which was usually called "Mom Mom Moseley's cornbread" or simply "Aunt Shirley's cornbread." She will be remembered as a wonderful, feisty and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who would do anything for her family, or anyone in need. She is survived by sons, Edward P. Moseley, Jr and wife, Carole and Mark D. Moseley and fiancée, Susan Lankford; grandchildren, Russell Derrickson, Ryan Derrickson (Amie), Joshua Moseley, April Moseley (Mike), Joseph Moseley (Amber), Amber Eure (Zack), Shane Moseley, Allana Cornelius (Jeff), Emily Moseley, Aericka Delcid (Tyler), and Mikayla Lankford; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Moseley, Sr.; brother, Richard E. Robinson (Martha); and sisters-in-law, Barbara Ryan (Terry) and Lillian Majors (Rodney). A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00. A funeral service is set to begin Sunday at 2:00. The Reverend Harold Hamilton will officiate. Interment will follow at Mardela Memorial Cemetery. In memory of Shirley, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to Athol Baptist Church, 9289 Lasalle Court, Mardela Springs, MD 21837 or Mardela Springs Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
