HEBRON- Shirley Bounds James, 79, of Hebron, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at her home. She was born on Deal Island, a daughter of the late Alton A. Walters and Dora Lee White Clark. Shirley was raised and attended school in Baltimore and Brooklyn, Maryland. She was a long time, active member of Nelson's United Methodist Church in Hebron. She retired from AAA Mid-Atlantic in 2002, then started a part time job with the Maryland Racing Commission. Due to her love for racing and horses (which her and her late husband were involved in for many years), she looked forward to the racing meet at Ocean Downs. She also enjoyed shopping, bingo and gardening. She is survived by three daughters, Billie Jo Willoughby of Delmar, Dawn Jones (Lonnie) of Quantico and Robin Bennett (Frank) of Delmar; four grandchildren, Jason Willoughby (Jamie), Jenna Willoughby Smith (Fred), Christina Bounds and Lacey Robinson; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Ricky Clark (Jenny), two sisters, Faye Dorsey and Phyllis Torbeck (Chuck), and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cody James; a granddaughter, Whitney Bennett (2010); two sisters, Barbara Milone and Audrey Moore; and her first husband, William Bounds (1967). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Memorial United Methodist Church, 200 Main Street, Hebron, MD 21830. Pastor Jim Riley will officiate. Following the service there will be a gathering of food and fellowship at the church hall. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made in her memory to Nelson's Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 254, Hebron, MD 21830, or to Coastal Hospice, P.O.
