Obituary

Sharon Harmon Butler, 74, of Hebron Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, January 23, 2023. She was born March 03, 1948, in Salisbury, Maryland, a daughter of the late James Thomas Harmon and Jeanette Belle Hobbs Harmon. Sharon was a graduate of James M. Bennett High School, Class of '67. Following high school, her first job was at Benjamins Department Store in Salisbury. After a brief period as a stay-at-home mother, she decided to begin a career as a Food Service Manager with the Wicomico County School District which allowed her to remain close to her children in their younger years. Throughout her career, Sharon was assigned to Westside Intermediate, Chipman, Fruitland, and Beaver Run Elementary where she retired in 2013 after 35 years of service. Sharon absolutely loved working with children, school administrators, and the many school families. In addition to feeding students, Sharon was also a wonderful cook at home. She was remembered for hosted countless holiday dinners which often included her entire extended family. Throughout the years, visitors to her home were also blessed through her many soups and recipes she would often share with them. Sharon will be remembered as a creative, thoughtful gift giver. She loved fishing, and Fisher's Popcorn. Sharon had a special place in her heart for animals and truly loved her "Grand Fur Babies". Family was the most important part of Sharon's life and she was forever proud of her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her younger sister, Saylon "Cookie" Pusey and husband Bruce; and sister-in-law, Frances Harmon. She is survived by her daughter, Dayle L. Calloway; son, James Harold Butler and wife, Davene, grandchildren, Jordan Twilley and husband, Eric, Emily Calloway, and Sidney Butler; and brother, Donald Harmon. She is also survived by a very special neighbor, Holli Adkins and her caring family, who were all so helpful the past several years through many visits, grocery support, and their thoughtful day-to-day help and friendship. Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon's memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury MD. 21802, or to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD. 21804. Graveside services will be open to family and friends on March 3, 2023, beginning at 11:00 at Springhill Memory Gardens, 27260 Ocean Gateway, Hebron, MD. 21830.
