It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Scott G. Fenkart, who departed this life peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on February 6, 1957, in Ridgewood, NJ, Scott will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to his family, and his profound impact on the lives of those around him. He was a son of the late Otto Richard Fenkart and Marjorie A. Ditmars Fenkart. Scott's professional journey began in New Jersey, where he was raised, and he dedicated over 27 years as park superintendent at Van Saun Park in Bergen County, NJ. Upon retirement and relocation, he devoted himself to the teaching of 4th-grade students at Bayview Christian School in Laurel, DE. His passion for teaching was only rivaled by his remarkable skills as a carpenter and handyman, often offering his services selflessly to those in need; never seeking compensation, but rather aiming to lend a helping hand to others. A devoted member of Ocean County Baptist Church and, later, Bayview Baptist Church, Scott lived his life spreading the message of Jesus Christ. He had Bible assurance that he was going to heaven because of his personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and Christ alone. He will be fondly remembered for his unwavering faith and commitment to uplifting those around him. In addition to his spiritual pursuits, Scott had a passion for sports, faithfully cheering for the New York Rangers, Green Bay Packers, and New York Yankees. He had a significant collection of sports memorabilia, including many autographed books. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, especially dogs. He was known for his sharp, witty sense of humor; many students at Bayview called him their favorite teacher. Scott was a loving husband to his wife of forty-two years, Karen L. Fenkart, and a devoted father to his three children, Pastor Joshua Fenkart and wife Joanna, Sarah Fenkart, and Hannah Fenkart. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Addyson (8), Andrew (6), Mark (4), Benjamin (2), and Brooke (1), creating lasting memories that will be treasured by his family. He leaves behind brothers Doug Fenkart and wife Andrea and their children, Greg, and wife Casey, and Bryan; Matthew Fenkart and wife Jane and their sons, Matthew Jr. and Jack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Craig Fenkart. In honor of Scott's life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bayview Baptist Church, 534 E 4th St, Laurel, DE 19956. All who knew him and were touched by his kindness and generosity are welcome to attend and share in the remembrance of a truly exceptional man. In memory of Scott, memorial contributions may be sent to Bayview Christian School, 534 East 4th Street, Laurel, DE 19956. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
