Samuel James Hudson, Jr., 94, of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born on January 25, 1928, in Snow Hill, a son of the late Samuel J. Hudson, Sr. and Daisey Lee Ward Hudson. Samuel served his country for two years in the Army and eight years in the Air Force. He was a flight engineer and loadmaster in the Air Force, stationed in Okinawa. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 64, Loyal Order of Moose 654, and the Red Men Lodge in Fruitland. Upon returning to Salisbury, he operated three gas stations and owned and operated Hudson's Foreign Car Services. He later owned and operated Hudson's Market in Bivalve and on Old Ocean City Road in Salisbury. Sam enjoyed playing blackjack, boating, fishing, and spending time working in his yard. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy G. Hudson; nephews, Kenneth Hudson and his family of Bricktown, NJ, Edward Hudson and his family of Salisbury; a niece, Luann Wilmer of Salisbury and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Annabel Ballard Hudson; sister, Frances Wilmer; brother, Edward Hudson; special nephew, Samuel J. Hudson, Sr; and a stepdaughter, Donna Rathel and her husband, Gene. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
