Ruth Evelyn Mumford, 78, of Delmar, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Salisbury Center Genesis Healthcare. She was born January 26, 1937 in Delmar, a daughter of the late Herman Davidson Riley, Sr. and Carrie Evelyn Riley. Evelyn graduated from Delmar High with the class of 1955. While raising her family, she also helped others by babysitting for various children. Once the children had grown she worked as a seamstress at Banks & Pusey and several pants factories until her health no longer allowed her to work. She was a member of the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 44 years. Evelyn enjoyed camping with her husband and was an avid collector of lighthouses and carousels. She is survived by two sons, Rusty Mumford and his wife Becky of Salisbury and David Mumford and his wife Patty of Delmar; a daughter, Rebecca L. Kambarn and her husband Steve of Salisbury; grandchildren, James F. Mumford, Jeremy Mumford and his wife Kara, Carrie E. Kambarn, Mandy Dukes and fiancé, Tony French and Gina Outten; great grandchildren, Amiah, JJ, Skye, Connor, Kayla, Tyler, Tori, Brandon, Gage, Dakota, Alexis and Scotty; a brother, Herman Davidson Riley, Jr. of Delmar; a sister, Betty Lou Thomas of Delmar; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Russell Mumford, Sr., who passed in 2014; three sisters, Doris Ann Bull, Virginia Lee Dize and Sandra Jean Cooper; a great granddaughter, Lila Catherine; and a great grandson, Dale Outten, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Delmar Fire Department, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00.
