Russell B. Dickerson, 84, of Snow Hill, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 5, 1927 in Snow Hill, the son of the late Virgil and Lulu (Moore) Dickerson. Russell was a member of Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill and a member of the Worcester Co. Farm Bureau. He retired after 26 years of service as a custodian for MD National Bank. After retirement he worked as a courier for Calvin B. Taylor Bank. He loved the outdoors and camping and spent many years farming his land. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and reminiscing about the past. He especially cherished memories made with his great granddaughter, Aulbri. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Julia C. Dickerson; three daughters, Donna Hudson of Fruitland, Susan Dickerson of Salisbury and Debbie Layfield and her husband Billy of Snow Hill; two granddaughters, Megan Hudson and Whitney Layfield; a great granddaughter, Aulbri Layfield; a sister, Joyce Quillen and her husband Whitely of Snow Hill; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bates Memorial Cemetery. Pastors Tina Whaley and Tom Northam will officiate. In memory of Mr. Dickerson, memorial contributions may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O.
