Ruby Estelle Spence Mears, loving mother, God's blessing to many, of Delmar, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Jane Spence and John Wesley Spence, both of Quinby, VA; her husband, Benjamin (Benny) Mears of Keller, VA; her son, Jackie M. Mears of Exmore, VA; her sister, Beulah Simpson of Exmore, VA; her brother, Emanuel Spence of Onancock, VA; and her brother, Irvin Spence of Oakland Park, VA. Prior to moving to Delmar ten years ago, Ruby was born, raised and lived in Quinby. She was a loving wife and mother and a blessing to her family. Surviving her are a son, Jerry Franklin Mears and his wife, Sharon of Laurel; a son, Colin Kelly Mears and his wife, Betty Lee of Delmar; and her sister, Romano Spence Mears of Willingsboro, New Jersey. She also leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial will be private in Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
