Ruby May Bailey, 89, of Delmar passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home in Florida. She was born in Cambridge on August 7, 1922, a daughter of the late Raymond and Florence McCarter. Ruby enjoyed being a homemaker and working with flowers and gardening. She went to work for E.I. Dupont Company in Seaford for a short time. Ruby and her husband enjoyed traveling to Florida, where she lived for her final years. She is survived by a step-daughter, Barbara White (Fred) of Salisbury; a step-son Wayne E. Bailey (Barbara) of Delmar; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. "Chalky" Bailey; a daughter, Brenda Sue Bailey; a sister, Betty McCarter; and two brothers, Russell and Darcey McCarter. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
