Rowena Janet Taylor, 88, of Fruitland, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Shock Trauma. She was born in Ocean City on November 28, 1923, a daughter of the late Elton Thomas Butler and Ella Grace Quillen. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Ocean City School on Second Street. In her younger years, she was a server at Rayne's Reef in Berlin. She worked at the Manhattan Shirt Factory, Montgomery Ward and worked in the office for E.S. Adkins for many years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since the early 1960's and was an active member of the ladies circle. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Bill Riley of Salisbury; two step grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna; a nephew, Tom McCabe on Adamstown, Maryland; two nieces, Patty Marks of Cortland, Ohio and Joyce Mudrak of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and a special friend, Margaret Adkins of Salisbury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters; Jeanette McCabe and Frances Mudrak; and a nephew, Michael Mudrak. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Salisbury. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Linda Pevey will officiate. In memory of Mrs. Taylor, contributions may be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, 211 Phillip Morris Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804.
