Roland Grant Bounds, 76, of Newark, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at his home in Newark. He was born in Newark on June 14, 1932, a son of the late Rodney C, & Bessie J. Bounds. Mr. Bounds proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 123, Berlin. Roland was a retired farmer and a member of the Worcester County Farm Bureau. He was a long time, active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Newark and a past member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and his family fondly referred to him as "Pop-Pop" and "Mr. Fix-it." He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alta Perdue Bounds, who passed in 2003. a brother, Cleveland Bounds, a sister, Hilda Williams and 3 sisters-in-law, Grace Grey, Marie Outten and Pauline Bounds. He is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Sandy & Doug Andrews and Karen & Henry Eure, all of Newark; 5 grandchildren, Delaney, Hanna and Grant Andrews and Marleigh and Rachel Eure, all of Newark; a brother, Thomas Bounds of Newark, and a sister, Doris Shockley of Snow Hill, Also surviving him are sisters-in-law Gladys Oland and Frances Mason, brothers-in-law, Clarence and Gilbert Perdue, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Newark.
