Obituary

Roger D. Johnson, 57, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 8, 1957 in Erie, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Preston S. Johnson and Nathalie Bean Johnson. Roger worked many years as owner and operator of Johnson's Well Drilling in Salisbury, the family business. He attended Delmarva Evangelistic Church in Salisbury. He was an avid baseball fan and a loyal follower of the Orioles. He loved all types of music and enjoyed arranging mix CD's of special selections for his family and friends. Most importantly, Roger will be remembered as a true family man who was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and a true friend to many. He will also be missed tremendously by his furry companions, "Buster" and "Coco." He is survived by three children, Ashley Paugh and husband, Nathan of Georgetown, Jordan R. Johnson and wife, Michele of Delmar and Catrina L. Martinez and husband, Roberto of Delmar; four grandchildren, Connor, Tadeo, Rosdely and Izabella; a brother, Dwight S. Johnson of Fruitland; and his former wife, friend and mother of his children, Lisa Gordy of Delmar. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Hubert. A celebration of Roger's life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Delmarva Evangelistic Church in Salisbury, where friends and family may visit from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverend Susie Jarrett will officiate. Memorial contributions may be sent in Roger's memory to Delmarva Evangelistic Church, 407 Gordy Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804.
