Delmar- Robert J. Webster, 87, of Delmar, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Country Rest Home in Greenwood, where he has resided for the past few years. He was born April 2, 1928 in Baltimore, a son of the late Alison H. Webster and Ruth Jones Webster. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. He retired after 30 years of service from PRMC in Salisbury where he worked in many departments and retired as a purchasing materials manager. After retirement he attended Lay Ministry school with the United Methodist Conference and where he earned his Lay Pastor degree. He pastored at Galestown United Methodist Church and Wheatley's Church, along with filling in at various Methodist churches in the area. He was a long time member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. He was always looking to serve where needed in his community and served for over 65 years with the Delmar Fire Department, where he held many offices, including Fire Department Chaplain. He was a Master Mason, past Master and member of the Masonic Lodge #201 A.F. & A.M. in Delmar. He was also an active member of the Delmar Lions Club, Delmar American Legion and a regular at the Railroad Café roundtable in Delmar. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Anita Webster of Newark, Delaware; and 3 grandchildren, Mitty Copeland and her husband, Kristofer, Emma Gilroy and her husband, John, and Alexis Cutonilli and her husband, Kyle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lois Hall Webster, who passed in 2012. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Country Rest Home for the care they showed Mr. Webster. A firemen's funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. Tom Adkins, DFD Assistant Chaplain and Bob Jones, DFD Chaplain, will officiate. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
