Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Lee Walker, 78, of Salisbury passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 3, 1944 in Hopeton, Virginia, the second youngest of six children to the late Harry James Walker, Sr. and Dorothy Brooks Walker. Bobby graduated from Parksley High School with the class of '63 where he played football. On July 25, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart Sandy, and for the past 58 years they raised their family and loved, laughed and smiled together. In his younger days he worked as a warehouse manager for Outten Brothers Furniture in Salisbury. For the past 30 years Bobby has been a fixture at the N. Salisbury Walmart where he quickly became a department manager until his recent health issues forced him to scale back. He attended Emmanuel Church in Salisbury and enjoyed playing on the church softball league. Bobby was a sports fan who rooted for the Washington Redskins, New York Yankees and the UNC Tar Heels Basketball Team, but more importantly, he rooted hard for his kids and grandkids as they played on many baseball, softball and soccer teams. When able, he rarely missed a game or school function if his grandkids were involved. They lovingly referred to him as "Bob-Bob." He also had a love for music and was a wonderful guitar and banjo player. Bobby never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with his signature warm smile and hug. He enjoyed working outdoors in his yard and especially loved his soap operas, rarely missing an episode of The Young and the Restless. He will be remembered as a true family man and an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra L. Walker; sons, Dave Walker (Dawn), Bryan Walker (Kimberly) and Troy D. Walker; grandchildren, Ethan Walker and his fiancée Lu, Sara Jarwan, Seth Walker, Hanna Jarwan, and Isabella Argo-Walker; and a great grandson E.J. Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harry James Walker, Jr., Ann Rowley, Barbara Marshall, Rosalee "Bea" Barnes (twin sister), and Jackie Walker. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Emmanuel Church, 217 Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00, followed by a funeral service which begins at 1:00. Interment will follow the service in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
