Obituary

SALISBURY – Robert Lee Stephens, Sr., 73, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born May 1, 1943 in Salisbury, a son of the late Richard and Anna Catherine Stephens. Pastor Bob, as he was known by many, attended United Wesleyan College in Allentown, Pennsylvania before pastoring Wesleyan churches in Point Phillip, PA, Goldsboro, MD, Milton, DE and Broomes Island, MD. He most recently served as the associate pastor at Faith Community Church in Salisbury. He also attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Salisbury. Pastor Bob was a talented woodworker and could build almost anything. In his free time he loved to be out on the water crabbing with his family on the boat he built himself that he named "Preacher's Pride". His children have fond memories of getting up early to get out on the river to watch the sun rise and set out the lines. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his concern that his family and anyone he came into contact with knew Jesus. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rebecca "Becky" Ann Stephens, whom he married April 14, 1963; children, Robert Lee Stephens, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, Dawn Rene' Johnson and husband, Donald of Salisbury and Regina Lynn Stephens of Lusby, MD; grandchildren, Rachel Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Donald Johnson, III, Stephanie Johnson, Danielle Johnson, Braeah Johnson and Emily Hooper; and a great grandson, Kayden Tanner Papanicolas. He is also survived by brothers, Richard Stephens and wife, Brenda of Pocomoke, Wesley Stephens and wife, Ann of Pocomoke and Kenneth Stephens and wife, Arlene of PA; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 12:00. Pastor Kenneth Stephens, Bob's brother, will officiate. Interment will follow at Melson's Cemetery in Delmar. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
