It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert M. Simpson, Jr. of Salisbury, MD, who departed this life on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on August 20, 1965, in Leesburg, Virginia, Robert was the beloved son of Marilynn Simpson Cushman and Robert M. Simpson, Sr.

Rob is survived by his significant other Karen M. Stewart and her children Melissa (Mustapha) and Ryan (Ashleigh) and seven grandchildren who knew and loved him simply as Pop-Pop Rob. He also leaves behind his brother, Matthew Simpson, his nieces, Morel Simpson Cummins and Autumn Simpson, his nephew, Sylas Simpson and their families as well as a special person in his life, Cory Townsend.

 Rob found happiness in the simple things in life. He had a love for history and reading, enjoyed watching movies, and was a devoted sports fan who loved cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and Dallas Cowboys. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family. Some of his greatest joy came from being with the grandchildren and watching them grow. Rob also had a passion for photography and found particular beauty in sunsets-a reflection of his appreciation for the beauty found in ordinary life.

After so many years together, Rob had become an irreplaceable part of the family and of the lives of those who loved him. His absence will be deeply felt, but he leaves behind countless cherished memories-and, most fittingly, the sunsets that will now hold an even deeper meaning for those who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Rob at a later date, where family, friends, and all who knew him are invited to share stories and memories in remembrance of his life. 

In this time of grief, we reflect on the moments spent with Rob and the unforgettable mark he has left on our hearts. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the lives he touched.
