Robert H. Shiflet II, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Delmar, Delaware. He was born on April 9, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, and dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his community as a police officer.
Bob's career with the Anne Arundel County Police Department spanned from 1966 until his retirement in 1992. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #70, where his commitment to duty and service set a shining example for his colleagues. Outside of work, Bob was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #89 in Annapolis, further demonstrating his dedication to community and brotherhood.
Known for his compassionate nature, Bob will be remembered for his kindness and his exceptional storytelling abilities.
He had a deep love for his family, which included his wife of 60 years, Mary Price Shiflet, his children Robert Shiflet (Melissa) and Craig Shiflet, his cherished grandchildren: Robert Shiflet (Katie), Mikaela Short (Kevin), Marisa Shiflet, and Robert "Brady" Whalley (Elizabeth); and his beloved great granddaughter, Meredith Shiflet. He is also survived by his sisters, Jillerd Shiflet and Gina Marzullo, and a sister-in-law, Annie May Price.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Shiflet; and siblings, Roger Shiflet, Robert Marzullo, and Deborah Howard.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Bob at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
