Robert Donald "Don" Rentz, Sr., 83, of Felton, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was born in Frederica on November 2, 1933, a son of the late Carl and Edith Rentz. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After owning his own business in Salisbury for many years he went to work as a manager at Joe Horisk's Salvage Pool in Fruitland. He attended Kent & Sussex Church of Christ, and was a member of the Wicomico American Legion Post 64 and the Moose Lodge #654 in Salisbury. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Rentz of Felton; a son, Michael Rentz (Jacque) of Frederick, MD; daughter-in-law, Danette Rentz of Berlin; step-daughter, Terry Powell (Mike) of Felton; grandchildren, Gregory Dutton (Danielle), Joseph Rentz, Zachary Rentz, and Kacie Zaleski (Matt); a great granddaughter, Zoey Zaleski; sisters, Janet Kanoy of Sudlersville, MD, Lois Rentz of Florida, and Kay Davidson of Felton; brother-in-law, Roby Sheppard (Nancy); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Avalon Rentz; a son, Bobby Rentz; brothers, Mac, Billy, Charles, and Ricky Rentz; and a sister, Carol Steele. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
