Robert Lee Rayfield, Sr., age 81, of Sharptown, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born July 20, 1925 in Virginia, a son of the late Randolph & Nora Waterfield Rayfield. Mr. Rayfield proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He worked as an Oil Burner Technician for over 14 years for Wise Oil & Fuel Co. in Salisbury. After leaving the oil business, he worked for a number of years as a custodian for the Wicomico County School System and also worked as a Security Officer for the Wicomico County District Court. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Mardela Springs where he served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and loved his family. He is survived by three children, Robert Lee Rayfield, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Delmar, Teresa Ann Black and her husband Ted of Sharptown and David Alan Rayfield and his wife Lisa of Princess Anne; 6 grandchildren, Jordan Rayfield, Butch Lehman, Jr. , Ted Black, Jr., Andrew Rementer, Burton Rementer, and Billy Rementer; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Elizabeth Rementer; and a special niece, Violet Marie Moore and her husband, Ralph of Blades, DE. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Rayfield. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mardela Springs. The Reverend Gary Tyndall will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date.
