Robert Wayne Moore, 87, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born in Mt. Morris, Illinois, a son of the late Raymond Paul Moore and Florence Parrish Moore. At a young age Bob grew up on a farm, where he learned the value of an honest day's work. He enlisted in the USMC at age 18 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5118 in Easton. After his return from the service, he worked in law enforcement for almost 20 years in Baltimore City and Howard County, Maryland. After that he worked several years as a corrections officer at the Patuxent Correction Center in Jessup. He continued to work as he moved to the Eastern Shore and owned his own excavation and tree trimming company, along with working as a caretaker for several estates in the Royal Oak, Maryland area. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and a wrestling and martial arts expert. He is survived by a son, James O. Butler and wife, Betty Jo of Millsboro; grandchildren, Tiffanie Cannon, Tracie Murphy and husband, Chris and Jessica Hill and husband, Paul; great grandchildren, Tierney Mae, Axyl Keegan, Cameron and Noah; and several nephews. He is also survived by a multitude of friends from the law enforcement and military community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Mae Moore; and brothers, Jim and Marion Moore. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, Delaware. The Reverend David Bennett will officiate.
