Robert Ray McGinnis was born in Lewes, Delaware on November 30, 1946, to Dorothy Marie McGinnis. He passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Tidal Health Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware.

Robert owned and operated McGinnis Tree Service for many years until his retirement. Outside of work, Robert found great joy in hunting and fishing, spending countless hours in the great outdoors, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. He especially loved the summer months. Having BBQ's for every occasion, inviting everyone he knew and cooking way too much food. He always had a big vegetable garden and enjoyed going to the neighbors and sharing what he had grown. Robert's love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren was like no other. He loved for them to come and visit or just come get a popsicle. Robert was a devoted family man who took immense joy in celebrating the holidays, particularly Christmas, where he delighted in buying gifts for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always finding one more thing to ensure that all the children had plenty of presents to unwrap.

Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Judy McGinnis; brothers, Ray McGinnis, Dan Patellis, Nick Patellis and Jerry Patellis; son, Will McGinnis (Christina); daughter-in-law, Vicki McGinnis; grandchildren, Heather Shores, Tyler McGinnis and Kellie McGinnis; and great grandchildren, Avery Shores and Rhett McGinnis.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Patellis; son, Jesse McGinnis; and great-grandson, Knox McGinnis.

No formal service will be held; the family will have a private gathering at a later date. In honor of Robert's life and legacy, the family encourages anyone wishing to contribute in his memory to send donations to their favorite charity.
