Robert Gross, Jr., 75, of Salisbury, passed away suddenly at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury on Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was born June 16, 1947, in Salisbury, a son of the late Robert Gross, Sr. and Hazel I. (Basham) Gross. Jr., as most knew him, was a devoted and faithful member of Woodside Chapel in Salisbury for the last 43 years. He enjoyed a successful and rewarding career of over 35 years as an HVAC installer for E.T. Travis Inc. Co. which was acquired by Taylor Oil in 1998. He was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. He enjoyed working on old cars and was a motorcycle enthusiast who even built his own trike. Jr. loved the outdoors and was happiest when hunting or fishing with family and friends. He was known for his outgoing, friendly demeanor, who never met a stranger and always brought out the best in people. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, son, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Marie (Meilhammer) Gross; son, Larry E. Gross and companion Dana; daughter, Penny A. Gross, who thankfully doesn't have a spouse; sister, Brenda S. Thomas; and a sister-in-law, Kay Gross. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and a host of great friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Gross; sisters, Barbara McRobie and husband Tip, Pat Sorrow and husband Vernon and Debbie Holt; brother-in-law, Philip Preston Thomas; and his beloved and faithful dog, "Harley D." A celebration of Jr.'s life will be held on Monday May 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 1:00. The Reverend Danny Travers will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in Jr.'s memory to Woodside Chapel, 1304 Toadvine Rd. Salisbury, MD 21804.
