Robert "Bob" Joseph Christian, Sr., 69, of Delmar, died Monday, November 2, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born February 26, 1940 in Philadelphia, a son of the late John and Margaret (Hollowell) Christian. Bob loved being around horses and worked as a Standardbred Horse Trainer for over 32 years. He was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Delmar. Memberships also included the Delmar Kiwanis Club, the Delaware Standardbred Association, the Maryland Cloverleaf Association and the U. S. Trotting Association. He loved watching sports and was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Phyllis Joyce Christian; a son, Robert Joseph Christian, Jr. of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Benjamin Phillip Christian of Catonsville, MD, Stephanie Ann Christian of Easton, Harrison Bartholomew Christian of Crumpton, MD and Jonathan Peter Christian of Crumpton, MD; a great grandson, Robert Patrick Davis of Elkton, MD; two brothers, John Harry Christian of Loganville, GA and James Richard Christian of Waverly Hall, GA; and a very dear friend, Rhonda Tingle of Millsboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, Grove Street in Delmar.
